Carmen Jones

9 Feb 200725 Feb 2007

A contemporary take on the Bizet opera, set in a military camp where Dorothy Dandridge's title character courts trouble and desire by falling for Harry Belafonte, a pilot heading for the Korean War. A restoration that's as thrilling and colourful as last year's re-release of Black Orpheus, with a book by musical legend Oscar Hammerstein.

Dir Otto Preminger, USA 1954, 105 mins, Cert PG
