Manji, a highly skilled samurai, becomes cursed with immortality after a legendary battle. Haunted by the brutal murder of his sister, Manji knows that only fighting evil will regain his soul. The mission will change Manji in ways he could never imagine...
Creating a universe that transcends period drama, director Takashi Miike has made a film that truly befits the original manga this film is based on. A human drama knitting together a vast range of characters and their complications, it features spectacular fight scenes with a whole array of imaginative weapons, and a climactic battle involving some 300 people that took more than two weeks to film.
