Beverley Knight's new album Music City Soul marks a new high in her 12-year career. Recorded in Nashville with over just a few days, the songs ooze soul and place Knight among her heroes, Aretha Franklin (her Rock Steady cover is brilliant) and Sam Cooke. She's playing the Royal Albert Hall later this year, but it's going to be a real pleasure to see Britain's finest soul diva in the ICA's intimate theatre. Tonight she's supported by sunshiney soul-jazz singer Raul Midon.
