Mat Whitecross' first feature film The Road to Guantanamo, which he co-directed with Michael Winterbottom, won them Best Director at the Berlin Film Festival in 2006.
Following its success he went on to direct the BBC series Spooks, Channel 4's Moving to Mars and Naomi Klein's Shock Doctrine documentary.
2010 year saw the release of his second feature, the mesmerising Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll starring Andy Serkis and Naomie Harris, which picked up several BAFTA nominations. Alongside his feature films he has begun to direct commercials for clients such as O2 and Adidas and has an impressive music video credit list, including several music videos for Coldplay, Take That and The Magic Numbers.
In April this year his third feature, Spike Island, follows a rising indie band trying to get to Spike Island, Cheshire, in May of 1990 to see The Stone Roses.

BAFTA Masterclass Labs are monthly events where innovative talents from the film and television industries share their creative practices with the audience.
