Shaheen Baig got her first casting credit on Alejandro Amenabar's ghost story The Others in 2001, starring Nicole Kidman. The success of the film propelled Shaheen's career and the casting of the two children's roles gained her a reputation for finding new talent. But whether the role requires a new face or an established name, the process is the same: finding the right person for the part. Since 2001, Shaheen Baig has gone on to garner over thirty feature film credits, working with a diverse range of directors including Anton Corbijn, Michael Winterbottom, Juan Antonio Bayona, Nick Broomfield and Justin Chadwick. Her enthusiasm and passion for the job are as strong as the day she first started and she is lucky enough to have a great team working with her.
Most recently she has completed work on Sally El Hosaini's directorial debut My Brother the Devil which premiered at Sundance this year and Juan Antonio Bayona's first English language feature The Impossible.
Shaheen has also worked on various television projects and has a long standing collaboration with Dominic Savage. Most notable television credits include Five Daughters, Stolen, The Trip and Charlie Brooker’s acclaimed Black Mirror trilogy. She has recently just finished casting Peaky Blinders for BBC 2 starring Cillian Murphy and Southcliffe, Sean Durkin's (Martha Marcy May Marlene) British TV debut, written by awarding winning screenwriter Tony Grisoni.
