Artists' Film Club: Dani Leventhal + Q&A

A screening of recent work by Columbus-based artist Dani Leventhal, followed by a Q&A led by Mason Leaver-Yap.

Dani Leventhal works across video, installation and drawing and often works in collaboration with other artists. Her videos capture the personal and the political, interweaving footage to build narratives that reflect emotional experiences and states; often featuring people who become the unassuming subjects in her work.

Artist biographies

  • Dani Leventhal

    Dani Leventhal has screened her videos at the Rotterdam International Film Festival; NYFF Projections, Oberhausen, The Ann Arbor Film Festival, Inverleith House, Union Docs, PS1, The Nightingale, Otras Obras, Schaulager Museum, Everson Museum, Hammer Museum, PS1, Museum of the Moving Image, and Anthology Film Archives. She is the recipient of a Wexner Film/Video Residency Award, the Kazuko Trust, the Eileen Maitland Award and the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice Visual Arts Grant. In 2003 she received an MFA in sculpture from the University of Illinois at Chicago and in 2009, an MFA in film/video from Bard College.  Her drawings are in the permanent collection of the MoMA. Leventhal lives in Columbus and is an assistant professor of drawing at Ohio State University.

  • Mason Leaver-Yap

    Mason Leaver-Yap works closely with artists to produce publications, exhibitions, and events. Recent projects include work with Uri Aran, Pauline Boudry/Renate Lorenz, Andrea Büttner, Hanne Darboven, Park McArthur, Lucy McKenzie, Charlotte Prodger, James Richards, and Leslie Thornton. They are based in Glasgow and Berlin.
