Director Abbas Kiarostami's UN-commissioned documentary about Ugandan orphans and the women who care for them. Shooting digital for the first time, his portrait of a country devastated by war and AIDS focuses not on tragedy but on the hope, vitality and poetry the director finds there. A remarkable, resonant film, made all the more affecting by its constant sense of surprise.
