Scolt Head Screenings was established in the Scolt Head pub and restaurant in North-East London by Isobel Harbison and Vanessa Desclaux in early 2007. Programmed into different series of six monthly events, the free screenings take place on Sunday evenings. For each screening, an artist is invited to show a particular work on video or film, and to recommend a feature film to be shown afterwards. Highlights from the recent third series include Anya Kirschner's Supernumeraries (2003) accompanied by Hiroshi Teshigahara's Pitfall (1962). The presence of the artists at each screening is intended in part to provide an alternative context for understanding individual practices, and also provoke informal discussions about the development of artists' works on film and video.
