This screening is introduced by the artist Juliette Blightman
Juliette Blightman’s Propinquity (killing time) (2018) is a new work developed through an ongoing diegetic investigation of the relationship between sound, still and moving images. Blightman incorporates personal recordings alongside photographs and images of artworks, toying with the incidental while anchoring the work in intuitive sequences of material.
Through text-on-screen exchanges of dialogue, the work's soundtrack is interjected with silent conversations; with precise editing and composition, Blightman opens out the role of the artist in a generous and subtle dialogue.
Juliette Blightman's recent exhibitions include Juliette Blightman/Ellie Epp, going to go out now, Western Front, Vancouver (2018), Nightshift, Fine Arts Sydney (2017/18), Loved an Image, Fons Welters Gallery (2017), Extimacy, Kunsthalle Bern and Transparencies: The Ambivalence of a New Visibility, Kunstverein Nürnberg and Bielefelder Kunstverein (all 2016).
