Beth Jeans Houghton and friends

21 May 2010

What can be said to summarize the wonderfully idiosyncratic world of Beth Jeans Houghton? She’s worked with Adem and Tunng and other Dalston folk royalty; she’s the Geordie folk-art performance pixie who clambered on stage to sing with Devendra Banhart at Green Man and has been making psychedelic electro-tinged acoustic inroads ever since. With word-of-mouth interest in Beth building by the day, the ICA sent her an invitation to curate an intimate evening of music and performance. Thus, we have words and wisdom from performance artist Cai Nyahoe, delicious harp playing from ICA regular Serafina Steer and an opportunity to enjoy superb new-comers Lulu and the Lampshades before they go on to bigger things. To top it all off Beth will close the evening in her own inimitable fashion with her band The Hooves of Destiny.
