For the first time ever, the London Short Film Festival will be hosting the premiere of the UK Film Council's New Cinema Fund's Completion Fund shorts with a programme of eclectic shorts made by entrepreneurial filmmaking talent. The UK Film Council's Short Film Completion Fund provides finance and support for short films that show outstanding potential but lack the funds to finish. A fund of £70,000 has been made available to support projects across the scheme's two calls each year. The shorts in this programme, made by emerging talent, are the product of the second call for 2008. The first call of 2009 is due to premiere in June 2009. Now in its 7th year, the scheme has supported more than fifty films, that have gone on to win over 100 awards worldwide.
The Completion Fund is managed by Maya Vision International. The UK Film Council's investment in shorts is managed by Lifesize Pictures.
