In the little-seen The London Nobody Knows, narrator James Mason takes us on a walking-tour around the lesser-known corners of the capital. It's a journey made all the more poignant and strange due to the fact that many of these landmarks, once simply obscure, have now disappeared completely.
Every Day Except Christmas follows twelve hours in the life of the Covent Garden fruit and vegetable market. Directed by Lindsay Anderson (If....), produced by Karel Reisz (Saturday Night and Sunday Morning), and initially shown in the National Film Theatre's seminal third Free Cinema programme, this is an improvised and ambitious attempt to capture the 'poetry of everyday life'.
