Audience Development

The ICA Reading Room Touring Programme aimed to attract new audiences from identified regions of lower engagement in its wide reaching programme of contemporary, interdisciplinary visual art exhibitions. Taking into consideration the capacity and resources of each partner venue, their existing audiences, and acknowledged targets, the ICA supported venues in building infrastructure to heighten engagement with local communities, whilst attracting new audiences previously unable to reach. In culminating new partnerships within each region, the ICA worked hard to ensure that the profile of partnering museums and galleries is increased and that the collaborative programme is championed by new networks and audiences across the UK.
