SOUNDWORKS wins a Lovies Award!
Our recent online (and in-gallery) sound art project SOUNDWORKS has just won a Bronze award in the art category at the second annual European Lovie Awards. Named after the world's first computer programmer Ada 'Lovie' Lovelace, the Lovies are a sister organisation to the Webby Awards in the USA and recognise "the unique and resonant nature of the European internet community".
SOUNDWORKS is an online platform that doubles as a virtual exhibition space for sound-based artwork and includes the work of over 130 artists such as Cosey Fanni Tutti, Haroon Mirza, Liam Gillick & Corrine Jones, Scanner, Luke Fowler & Richard Youngs and many, many more. The website was built using the ICA's Soundcloud channel to deliver the audio and to help engage the audio community - as well as to make sure that the project had as wide a reach as possible - and to date the works have received over 68,000 plays! We're thrilled that the project has now been recognised for its innovative use of online technology in the arts on such a prestigious international stage.
