Frieze Week at the ICA: Gregor Muir's Highlights

From the first official Frieze ICA Bar in association with K11 Art Foundation to exhibition openings, daily music performances, Off-Site projects and more, Frieze Week 2015 is busier than ever here at the ICA. Ahead of all the action, ICA Executive Director Gregor Muir talks you through the programme highlights.

During this year's Frieze London, the ICA will be active as never before. Here are some key dates for your diary... join us!

Throughout Frieze Week, the ICA will partner with Frieze Art Fair and K11 Art Foundation to host London’s first official Frieze ICA Bar in association with K11 Art Foundation. Taking place over a five day period, special guests including McQ and WARP will host an evening of music and DJs in collaboration with NTS Radio.

On Monday 12 October, we celebrate the opening of Zhang Ding: Enter the Dragon (12-25 Oct), presented in collaboration with K11 Art Foundation. Featuring an installation inspired by the final scene from the seminal Bruce Lee film, Enter the Dragon, Chinese artist Zhang Ding transforms the ICA Theatre into a 'mutating sound sculpture' for a series of daily musical performances, programmed by Zhang Ding in association with NTS Radio. Join us for the Exhibition Preview on Monday 12 October from 7pm, with DJ sets from Bell Towers, Pandora’s Jukebox and Trevor Jackson. Also, on the same day, fig-2 will be open from 2pm in the ICA Studio, with their new exhibition by Danish artist FOS.

Meanwhile, Prem Sahib continues across the ICA galleries with Side On, his first institutional solo exhibition in London. Throughout the week, the galleries will be open until 11pm. Coming up on 28 October, join us for an Artist's Talk with Prem Sahib and on 12 November, Sahib collaborates with DJ and artist Jeffrey Hinton for UNPLUCT, a special one-off night of live DJ sets and screenings in the ICA Theatre.

In the ICA Fox Reading Room, we look forward to the opening of Smiler: Photographs of London by Mark Cawson. On Thursday 15 October, at 7.30pm, writer and artist Neal Brown chairs London’s Squats and Counterculture: 1970s to Now, a panel discussion inspired by the exhibition, with musicians Viv Albertine and Jimmy Cauty and artists Peter Doig and Rut Blees Luxemburg. Join us for the exhibition party that evening with DJs Bahamian Moor, Ivan Smagghe and Nathan Gregory Wilkins in the Frieze ICA Bar in association with K11 Art Foundation.

Off-site in association with Diesel Black Gold, the ICA will present an installation of video works by London-based artist Hannah Perry. The project will see Perry occupy the courtyard of the flagship store for one month with a video installation. Perry will also feature in the ICA Artists’ Film Club programme in early 2016.

Over at Frieze Art Fair, we are delighted to be joining forces once again with Allied Editions, a unique artist’s editions collective of seven arts organisations. Come and find us at stand B22 for editions by Prem Sahib, Roger Hiorns and many more, including the official launch of Zhang Ding's new ICA edition.

On Friday 16 October, Stuart Middleton joins us for a special Frieze Week Culture Now discussion in our cinema, and throughout the week we will once again be hosting the BFI London Film Festival.

I'm also co-producing the Frieze Talks programme with Christy Lange from Frieze Magazine, so keep an eye on the talks programme at the main fair in Regent's Park.
